Now that it’s May, the countdown begins. In less than two weeks, the Summit Area YMCA will be holding its 17th Annual Mother’s Day 5K Walk/Run that raises funds for those affected by cancer through the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program. LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program is a free 12-week small-group recovery program offered to adult cancer survivors at the Summit and Berkeley Heights YMCAs. Participants in this program work with specially trained Y staff to customize the program to their individual needs. Common goals include building muscle mass and strength, increasing flexibility and endurance, and improving confidence and self-esteem.
By participating in the Mother’s Day 5k Run/Walk (MD5K) on Sunday May 13th at Memorial Field in Berkeley Heights, NJ you are supporting the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program. Registration is $30 up until the day of the race and $40 at the event. To register, please visit www.thesay.org/5k2018
Participants can also encourage their friends and family to support cancer recovery by sponsoring their run/walk.
