On May 13, the Summit Area YMCA will host the 17th Annual Mother’s Day 5K Run/Walk at Memorial Field, in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. All age groups (6+) are invited to participate in this event where proceeds from the chip-timed, USATF-sanctioned Grand Prix race benefit LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA. LIVESTRONG® is a free, small group, 12-week cancer survivor and recovery program. With LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, participants work on building muscle mass and strength, increasing flexibility and endurance, and finding a welcoming community where they can connect in a meaningful way. The program is offered at both the Berkeley Heights YMCA and Summit YMCA branches.
As part of our mission to promote healthy living and to inspire caring for those members of our community who need help, the Summit Area YMCA works to provide programming and support to individuals of all ages and abilities.
The Mother’s Day 5K is a family-friendly event that will also include a magic show, Zumba, Tot Trot, and music. Runners and walkers are welcome to participate in the race as individuals or as teams and prizes will be awarded in each age category.
