The Summit Area YMCA builds stronger communities with programs and services that help all individuals learn, grow, and thrive in a welcoming, inclusive environment. At the Y, seniors who participate in our healthy living and social programs increase their self-confidence and sense of achievement while building a strong sense of belonging and a network of friends. As a result, these active older adults live a healthier and more fulfilling life.
With this in mind, the Summit Area YMCA will offer FREE classes for area seniors on Wednesdays from June 19- August 27. On these days, local residents age 62 and over are invited to visit the Summit branch at 67 Maple Street in Summit for FREE. The special schedule of free classes and activities for seniors are as follows:
Hydro R.E.P.S. (Water Exercise)
This is a total body workout class that includes cardio aerobics, muscle conditioning, flexibility and exercises for full body range of motion. Yoga Basics (Gentle Yoga)
Beginner level yoga class that focuses on various asansas, stretches and ends with deep relaxation. Gentle Yoga will relax your body and refresh your mind. Joyful Fitness (Land Exercise)

Shallow Water Arthritis
Class is geared towards individuals with arthritis who need help easing into an exercise program. An Arthritis Foundation recreational program includes exercises to increase flexibility and improve range of motion. This class is offered on Wednesdays from 11:15 AM – 12:00 PM. Join us for Duplicate Bridge where experienced players can enjoy the game and compete with others! Instructor is onsite. Cost is $7/day for nonmembers.
