Drama Camp is a great opportunity for campers to express themselves while they expand their knowledge of the arts and humanities. Each session campers will works on scenery, props, costumes and memorizing their scripts for their Grand Finale Performance. At the end of each session, the drama camp will showcase their talents and hard work in a live performance held at the Summit YMCA. Each session will offer a different play. Performance titles will be posted online by March 15. Register

Radical Reactions and Detective Science

In this week long program, campers will have tons of fun mixing up potions and experimenting with several kinds of chemical reactions. Grow crystals, create sidewalk chalk, and make chromatography t-shirts to take home. Discovering pottery offers the opportunity for children in grades K-5 to explore the world of ceramics and clay from creation of pieces through hand building and molding, to the firing process, to glazing and staining with beautiful finishes. Campers will be transported from the Watchung Reservation to Galloping Hill Golf Course, where each camper will be introduced to the wonderful game of golf. Camp provides a set of youth clubs, range balls and a daily 9 hole round of golf for use each day. Campers are taught by certified PGA instructors and work on all facets of the game. Register

Explore the science behind rocket construction as you build your own rocket. Use teamwork to complete an important space mission and build a model space station. Explore the farthest reaches of our solar system and create a lunar eclipse in our Mad Science planetary tour. This stellar camp is your ticket to the stars as you journey through the galaxy. Petite Equestrian Program (P.E.P.) Our PEP program is perfect for the young aspiring equestrian. Participants will learn safety on and around size-related ponies and cobs, grooming techniques, basic riding , and other primary horsemanship skills.  The week will culminate with a ride around our own fenced-in trails, with proper instruction on how to mount, dismount, hold the reins and control the cob/pony at the walk and a few steps of trot.  Our skilled instructors, using age appropriate games, songs and techniques that help ensure a safe and comfortable ride.  Each session develops confidence and motor-coordination while providing a supportive and fun-filled, social environment.  Optional cumulative weeks ensure progression while minimizing redundancy. Transportation to and from Seaton Hackney Stables in Morristown is provided. Register

Horsemanship Program Great for beginners to advanced riders.  Our half day option will explore horse health and care, grooming techniques, and balance seat implementation. Participants refine their riding and horsemanship skills or acquire new ones in the English or Western styles.  Trail rides are offered throughout the week on the beautiful adjacent Loantaka equestrian trails.  All students rotate through stations that teach skills based on level. These range from a riding lesson taught by our certified Riding Instructors to Barn Management sessions. Riding options will include lessons, trail rides, lunging, Equisthenics classes and introductory Vaulting.  Full day options include the half day program as well as additional riding sessions, swimming at the adjacent Ginty Pool and more. A Friday Gymkhana consisting of ground and mounted equestrian games will finish the week in a popular and enthusiastic fashion. Transportation to and from Seaton Hackney Stables in Morristown is provided. Register

This exciting new camp offers many of the traditional camp experiences with the added bonus of outdoor swimming. Camp Lagoon is located on the plush grounds of the Berkeley Heights Community Pool. Campers will have the opportunity to swim every day, except on our scheduled field trip days. As an added benefit campers will participate in swimming lessons once a week. In addition to swimming, campers will participate in fun field games, a wide variety of arts & crafts, nature learning, tennis, and other blacktop sports and games. Field trips will include state and national parks, sporting events, movies, mini golf, local attractions, and more! An exact trip schedule will be released on March 15, 2013.
Campers should bring lunch every day and will enjoy a picnic style lunch.
Pick up and drop off will be at the Berkeley Heights YMCA.

After a memorable day at Camp Lagoon, campers can continue their fun at the Berkeley Heights YMCA. Our indoor facilities offer campers the opportunity to continue their enrichment through fun art projects, silly science experiments, computer learning, young chef cooking, gym sports and games, parachutes, our outdoor play ground, and more!  The Extra Fun Option is only available to those campers signed up for Camp Lagoon or one of the AM Specialty Camps held at the Berkeley Heights branch.
