Complimentary Equipment Orientations

Before you get started on your own, learn how to properly use the equipment and create a personal workout routine.  Upon joining the Summit YMCA, members are entitled to three (3) 45 minute Fitness Center demonstrations with an instructor plus a follow up session.

Strive Center: A 30-minute Strength Training

Strive Smart Strength Training Circuit.  Nine machines with an adjustable cam to change settings.  Do 3 sets between 0 and 30 seconds and see great results with cardio equipment.

  • Aikido

    AIKIDO is a Japanese martial art.  Focuses not on punching or kicking opponents, but rather on using their own energy to gain control of them.  Aikido's circular, flowing techniques are fun, effective and can be learned by anyone regardless of size, age or gender.

Barre Sculpt

Barre merges the best of yoga, pilates and the ballet bar method in a fun class that will compliment any regular fitness routine.  Targeted and precise movements will build elegant new muscles and develop strength in muscles that are often underutilized.

Taught by former Golden Gloves competitors, this class will increase your aerobic endurance, balance, and upper body strength using a heavy bag, speed bag, jump rope and mitt work with the trainer.  Sessions run on a monthly basis.

Boxing for Parkinson’s

Recent studies have shown the benefit of non-contact boxing for people with Parkinson’s Disease.  Increased balance, coordination and endurance are just some of the benefits realized.  Class is taught by Drew Stern, former New England Golden Gloves competitor.  Medical clearance is necessary.

  • Fitness Assessment Program

    Using the latest scientific Microfit equipment, you can have us assess your body composition (body weight and body fat), blood pressure, heart rate, flexibility, muscular strength, and cardio-respiratory efficiency (VO2).  The results will be reviewed with you.   • Nutrition Counseling

    Whether you are looking to lose weight, find out what foods will help you as you workout, are looking for a specific disease related diet or just want to find out about healthy eating - meet with our staff nutritionist to develop a plan to meet your needs and help you make changes you can live with specific to your needs.

  • Stive to Lose - Nutrition Counseling Program

    Learn to incorporate fitness and nutrition strategies into your current lifestyle through this 8-week program designed to educate and motivate you toward a healthy weight goal.  Each class will include a 45-minute nutrition lecture followed by a circuit workout using the Strive strength training equipment.

    Designed by a Navy SEAL, the TRX Suspension Trainer is a complete total-body training tool that helps take you to the next level of performance.  Harness your own body weight to create resistance and adjust the degree of difficulty (from 5 to 100 percent of your body weight) whether you're a beginner or an experienced athlete.

    The TRX Suspension Trainer improves strength, core stability, flexibility, balance, biomechanics, and range of motion.  The unique combination of body-weight-based training equipment and exercises is the first of its kind. It focuses on the body as a completely integrated structural system.

    Minimum age to participate: 16 years old

    Meet your personal trainer 2 x a week for 6 weeks. The boot camp also includes 2 nutrition assessments and 2 fitness assessments. Dates and times vary. 


    Individual instruction focusing on yoga specific physical conditioning.

Small Group Personal Training

These trainings, designed for 3-4 people give you more flexibility than group exercise classes.

    Weather permitting, Brides meet 2 x a week with your trainer for 6 weeks and work out with your bridal party to get ready for the “Big” day. Dates and times vary. $1,000 up to 4 participants. Additional participants at reduced fee.

    Moms, especially new moms don't have a lot of time to themselves. Stroller Strong is a unique workout experience that allows you to bond with your little one by bringing them along. Classes run weather permitting. Join a Stroller Strong class today or start your own!


    This post Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is designed for individuals with heart disease and/or individuals with risk factors that could lead to heart disease. The program includes supervised exercise sessions and blood pressure and heart rate monitoring. Medical clearance is required. Communication is maintained between client’s medical care professional and staff to ensure the program is meeting the needs of the client and to communicate any concerns that may arise during the workout session.








    Concentrate on those problem areas in this small group class that meets once a week.

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa yoga links and connects movements through breath. Class begins with a centering philosophy and an intention to create focus for practice, moving into sun salutations and vigorous sequencing. Class will close with savasana, a final relaxation to integrate the practice and reground the spirit.

Iyengar Style Yoga

This class is a non-aerobic alignment based class that emphasizes precise postural alignment. Class uses props to allow participants to modify the postures and maintain the correct alignment.

Yoga Basics

This class is an Iyengar style, non-aerobic alignment based class that focuses on on foundation poses and incorporates breathing practices. This class is appropriate for beginner yoga students as well as seasoned practitioners who are seeking a gentle practice which can be tailored to their needs.

Hatha Flow

This class will gracefully link breath to movement while focusing on posture and alignment and opens you up to connecting the spirit, mind and body.

Reiki Meditation

This class brings about healing on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. Class focuses on pure relaxation for each participant.

Gentle Yoga

This 90 minute Kripalu style class is a gentle class that has participants focus on various asanas, stretches and ends with a deep relaxation.

Stretching & Stability

This 45 minutes class includes of stretching and balance work using ropes, blocks, and the magic circle. - All level class

Alignment Driven Vinyasa

This 75 minute class has a vinyasa format with a “workshop” feel and delves deeper into alignment and more detailed instruction toward cultivating our focus for the week.-All level class

Essential Yoga

This class will deepen your yoga experience using therapeutic grade essential oils to enrich and deepen your yoga practice. Using a variety of essential oils-some grounding, some energizing, some calming will add another layer to your yoga experience. –All level class

Absolute Beginner Yoga

This class is an introduction to yoga that includes basic asanas or poses, alignment and posture and ends with relaxation.

Military Yoga

The Summit Y invites able bodied, active military persons, post 9/11 veterans, and their caregiver/spouse to join us for FREE yoga to treat, combat stress (PTSD), and unresolved trauma or anxiety disorders.

*Hot Yoga Inspired Bootcamp

Hot Yoga Inspired Bootcamp is 1 solid hour of a yoga inspired workout in a sets and reps format using weighted cork blocks. This is a high intensity class rather than a fluid flow. Targeting the abs, legs, arms and butt, this class will bring your workouts to a whole new level. Be prepared to sweat!

*Hot Power Hour

Be prepared for a rapid hot flow. We take the traditional Vinyasa Flow and incorporate the rapid repetition to detoxify and rejuvenate the body. This class is suitable for all levels. Tapped for time and need to work out? Experience the body transforming, calorie burning and mind calming effects of an hour of power!

*Hot Vinyasa Flow

We begin with a Sun Salutation warm-up series, emphasizing the connection of the breathe to the movement. This class will incorporate standing balance, arm balance as well as inversions. There is always a modification offered when moving into more challenging poses. This is an all-level class. We move, we sweat, and we breathe as we focus on strength, agility, balance and flexibility.

Pilates Mat
