A career and college preparation program for area students in grades 8-12. Meetings are held once a week from 7:00pm-8:00pm. Participants are given opportunities to attend college tours, corporate mentoring, career clusters and more!

DANCE (AGES 3 TO 10 YEARS)

  • DANCE PARTY (AGES 6 TO 10 YEARS)
    Children will learn a lot of fun dances including the "Cotton Eye Joe," "Macarena," "Electric Slide," "YMCA," "the Twist," "Cha-Cha Slide," and more!
  • LYRICAL MOVEMENT (AGES 10 TO 12 YEARS)
    This class explores movement combining dance techniques from ballet, modern and jazz, to create an atmosphere of fun in the art of dance.  Beginner Level 2.
  • Rhythm & Movement (ages 7 to 9 years)
    This class explores moving through space and time using improvisation to create the art of dance.  Beginner Level 1.

Parent Child Enrichment Classes (ages 1 to 4 years)

  • WIGGLE, GIGGLE, RHYME (AGES 1 TO 5 YEARS)

    Toddler with parent/caregiver have fun wiggling, giggling, and making new friends. Activities include free play in the gym, circle time, story/snack and weekly themed art project. Drinks will not be provided. If your child uses a sippy cup, please bring it.

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

  • MOTHER GOOSE TOGETHER TIME (AGES 1.5 TO 3 YEARS)

    This fun, interactive class will introduce your child to popular Nursery Rhymes through songs, rhymes, stories and theme-related arts and crafts ...together.

    Classes are 45 minutes long.

  • daily dose of fun (ages 2.5 to 4 years)
    Enjoy this class as a bonding experience with your little one as you explore your creative side.  Each week we will work on different craft projects, paint, sing, dance, stamp and explore.

Preschool and Youth Enrichment (ages 2 to 7 years)

  • FIT N FUN (AGES 3 TO 5 YEARS)

    During this high-energy class, children will be introduced to various age appropriate sports.  Classes will focus on ball control, running, throwing, and other basic motor skills.  Children will play appropriate games with a strong focus on motor development.  Wear comfortable clothes, sneakers and bring a water bottle.

  • ALL ABOUT ME ABC'S (AGES 2.5 TO 4 YEARS)

    Explore the alphabet by learning about each letter, their sounds and how to form them.  Children will enjoy new hand-on discovery activities each week, engaging arts & crafts projects and alphabet stories as we create a book about all of the letters we have learned.  Students will receive activities to extend their learning at home each week.

  • LITTLE MASTERS (AGES 2.5 TO 4 YEARS)

    Jump in a time machine and explore the wonderful world of imagination, color and exciting art materials! From Rembrandt to Picasso to Warhol, children will create two-and-three-dimensional art pieces, exploring color, form, pattern and texture; inspired by some of the most famous artists and through our history. This exciting class explores various materials and techniques, and will turn your child's  original ideas into masterpieces!

    Classes are 45 minutes long.



  • C IS FOR COOKING: RECIPES FROM THE STREET (AGES 2 TO 5 YEARS)

    Introducing your preschooler to cooking is easy with a little help from the Sesame Street gang. Tasty, healthy recipes from Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby and friends will appeal to even the pickiest eaters. Parent participation is optional. Teacher must be notified of any food allergies.

    Classes are 1 hour long.

  • dirt diggers (ages 2.5 to 4 years)
    Children revel in sensory experiences like digging in dirt, pulling weeds and lifting "heavy" items like a wheelbarrow.  Your child will be sure to love and benefit from participation in learning what and how to plant, experimentation with the needs of plants, transplanting seedlings, watering and caring for the garden, and of course, harvesting the rewards!
  • STORYTALE (AGES 2.5 TO 4 YEARS)
    "Once upon a time" visualization and drama exercises stimulate your child's imagination while they create works of art that will be used in developing imaginative and unique stories and characters.  A wide range of art materials will be used while working on creating 2 and 3 dimensional works, which will then be incorporated into storytelling, drama and creative movement play.
  • GLOBE TROTTERS (AGES 2.5 TO 4 YEARS)
    Travel with us as we paint, sculpt, draw, and build our way around the world!  We will hike, fly, and sail to exotic lands each week, where the children will have the opportunity to delve into a rich cultural exploration of art and stories native to each place we visit.  Children will be exposed to new and exciting artistic mediums and methods each week and gain valuable insight to the world around them.

School Age Enrichment (Ages 5 to 12 years)

  • KNITTING FOR KIDS (AGES 7 TO 12 YEARS)

    Get started in the popular craft of knitting! Learn how needles and yarn together make loops that become fabric.   Learn about the difference between knit and woven fabrics, and why knitting is so important to our comfort.  Learn to hold the yarn, cast on, knit and bind off.  Learn how to read knitting patterns.  We will work on a change purse, small pillows and toy stuffed animals, and start projects that can be completed at home.

  • 3-2-1 ACTING! (AGES 8 TO 10 YEARS)

    Your child will play theater games and focus on beginning acting techniques while they build their confidence performing in front of others, hone their public speaking skills, and have fun! They will be given the opportunity to create crazy characters and work with others collaboratively while harnessing their inner actor. The class will culminate in the performance of a short monologue at the end of the session.

    Classes are 1 hour long.

  • BRICKS 4 KIDZ (AGES 5 TO 7 YEARS)
    In this fun, educational class, children will experience hands-on engineering fundamentals as they build motorized models using LEGO Bricks. Bricks 4 Kidz provides  a curriculum which introduces children to engineering, architecture and scientific  principles. Children work in teams to build engaging LEGO models. Trained Bricks 4 Kidz teachers provide instruction tailored to the curriculum objectives of specific grade levels and allow their creativity to soar during a free-play building session at the end of each class.

    Classes are 1 hour long.
  • ICING FUN (AGES 7 TO 10 YEARS)
    Kids love to help in the kitchen.  And now they can learn how to decorate cakes, cookies and cupcakes with basic decorating techniques.  Teacher must be notified of food allergies ahead of time.
  • Moving Meditation - Yoga for Children with Special Needs (ages 4 to 7)
    Children are encouraged to explore breath and movement to help calm the mind.  Students will find a peaceful and non-competitive environment that promotes personal reflection and gentle asana practice.  Yoga has been found to improve mental focus, body awareness, balance and self confidence.
  • Yo Hablo Espanol! (ages 5 to 7 years)
    Children will learn basic Spanish Language vocabulary including alphabet, numbers, colors, greets, and more.  Help your child get ahead and learn valuable communication skills.  Great class for children who would like to keep up with their Spanish skills as well as children who would like to learn another language!

  • GIRLS ON THE RUN NJ

    For girls in Grades 3 to 5. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident, using a fun, experience-based curriculum, which creatively integrates running. The program runs 10 weeks. Participants meet two times a week for one 1 hour and 15 minutes.

    Mon and Thursday, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Memorial Track, Summit
    Tuesday, 4:00-5:15 pm, and Saturday, 9:30-10:45 am, Columbia Park, Berkeley Heights.

  • PRE-TEEN GROUP FITNESS TRAINING (AGES 11 TO 12 YEARS)

    Small group fitness training under the guidance of a certified personal trainer. The participants will be shown how to exercise correctly and how to structure a well rounded fitness program. Each meeting will include a cardiovascular workout, strength training and flexibility training. Class meets twice a week.

  • TEEN OPEN GYM
    We welcome teen members age 12 through age 19 (must be 12 years old and in 7th grade), on Wednesday nights from 6:45 pm to 8:30 pm. 

    All teen members must sign in and get a valid wrist band (for that day) at Member Services. Teen members may invite 1 teen guest, as long as that guest has completed a Guest Form signed by his/her parent/guardian. Sneakers must be worn be worn by all participants.

    All teen members and their guests are requested to follow our Code of Conduct. Participants are expected to take car of YMCA equipment and property and respect the Gym Supervisor who enforces all schedules and rules. Note, we do not tolerate foul or indecent language at our facility.

    Teen Membership Fee: $39 per month

  • KNITTING FOR TEENS/ADULTS (AGES 13 AND UP)

    Learn to knit!  Fee is for drop in pass for non members.

  • LEADERS CLUB (AGES 13 TO 17 YEARS)

    Teen Led, Teen Driven - Leaders Club is a national Y volunteer program for teens in grades 7-12 that focuses on community service, social development, leadership training, team building, and FUN! Leaders Club is run by teens and overseen by a Y staff member. Earn volunteer hours while using your ideas, strengths, and interests to make a difference. In Leaders’ Club, you develop projects and create opportunities to make an impact on the community & live a healthier, more active lifestyle. Also included weekend rallies with Leader’s Club from other YMCAs in the area.

  • Friday Teen Game Night - Canton (Ages 13 to 17 years)
    Join us for a fun game night of development, settlement, trading, stretegy and discovery. New players are welcome. We'll teach you the rules. Grades 6-9. All games materials and snacks provided.
  • Friday Teen Night - Whiffle Ball and Homerun Derby (Ages 11 to 17 years)
    Join us for a night of friendly competitive fun! Whiffle balls and bats will be provided. Prize will be awarded for winner of homerun derby.
  • Knitting for Teens - Reuseable Coffee Cup Cozy (Ages 13 to 17 years)
    "Learn to knit to make personalized and fashionable items.   This four-week workshop will teach the basics while you make a reusable knitted coffee cup cozy. Learn to cast on, hold the yarn, knit and bind off. Learn to increase and decrease. If you already have some experience knitting, join us to create new projects and feel free to bring your in-process knitting along.

    In addition to covering basic steps, we will discuss tips for using Ravelry.com and other online sites to get ideas for popular projects.  Learn more about kinds of yarn and needles, and how to choose projects that fit your style. Pillows, backpacks, scarves, amigurumi (Japanese stuffed animals).

    Materials will be available free for your use.  If you already have yarn and needles you like, bring them along.  If you wish to purchase your yarn prior to the first session, please purchase worsted weight yarn (at least 50% wool) and size 8 (5.0 mm) needles.

  • Teen Nerf Wars (Ages 13 to 17 years)
    Open to teens in grades 6-9. Please bring your own Nerf equipment. Only amunition composed of foam or a similar soft material permitted. Snacks will be provided.
  • VIS + COM + CODE - Graphic Design for Teens (Ages 11 to 17 years)
    A class designed to bridge the digital divide for students who are looking to learn how to express themselves creatively in today's digitial age. During this 8-week course participants receive an introduction to graphic arts, digital photography, web design and branding.
  • Teen Halloween Spooktacular - Volunteer Opportunity (Ages 13 to 17 years)
    Need volunteer hours? Join us for an afternoon of frights and delights. Assist with family games, crafts and fun activities. Please remember to bring any community service paperwork to be signed.
