Ways to Give

CASH GIFTS

A gift of cash entitles a donor to the most generous federal income tax deduction available for charitable contributions. You may deduct up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income for gifts of cash and may carry any amount over that figure forward for up to five additional years. You can make a cash gift online.

Gift by Credit Card:
Make a gift to The Summit Area YMCA with your credit card online. If you’d like to make a gift by credit card, but do not wish to make your gift on-line, please call us at 908-738-2173 and we will assist you in making a gift over the phone.

Gift by Check:
Make your check payable to The Summit Area YMCA, and send to:
The Summit Area YMCA
ATTN: Development Office
99 Morris Ave
Summit, NJ 07901

Recurring Gift:
A recurring gift is an ongoing, specific gift amount determined by a donor that is charged weekly or monthly to a donor’s credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express). Recurring gifts can be set up to run as a onetime charge in a future month. Your recurring gifts will be a dependable source of support that The Y can count on throughout the year. To get started visit our giving page and select “weekly” or “monthly” and the duration.

Sample Monthly Donations
Beginning in the month of January and ending the following December:
$5 per month = $60 per year
$10 per month = $120 per year
$25 per month = $300 per year

Marketable Securities:
A gift of appreciated securities that you have held for more than one year is frequently the most economic way to give. You will be eligible to take a federal income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift for up to thirty percent of your adjusted gross income and will not have to recognize the appreciation as capital gain.

YMCA NEWS

SUMMIT AREA YMCA

BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA

In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men’s Christian Association, but today, we are The Y; an association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
