Summit Area YMCA Annual Celebration
The Y held its Annual Celebration event on Tuesday, June 5 honoring Volunteers of the Year, Achievers, Youth of the Year, and Timothy G. Weidman the 2012 Shuart Reed Award Recipient and former President and CEO of the Summit Area YMCA. Among the guests attending were donors, former and current board of trustees, community officials, staff and members.

Mother's Day 5K Run/Walk 2012
Thank you for celebrating Mother's Day with us and participating in our 11th Annual Mother's Day 5K. We are proud to announce that that we raised over $30,000 thanks to the generosity or our members, donors, sponsors and Mother's Day 5K participants.

HEALTHY U
The Summit Area YMCA is pleased to be part of Healthy U, a statewide initiative to introduce the award winning CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health) curriculum aimed at addressing the childhood obesity in the after -school setting.
The CATCH Kids Club (CKC) program is comprised of nutrition education materials and a physical activity component. Children learn about healthy living and healthier lifestyles while having fun. This program will incorporate 30 minutes of non-competitive physical activity at least three times during the week.
The Healthy U program is open to children between the ages of 5 and 12 who are enrolled in the Summit Area YMCA’s after-school programs.
Summit YMCA Rallies for Annual Campaign

On Monday, March 12, the Summit YMCA Staff held a rally at the Y to raise awareness for the Summit Area YMCA’s annual campaign. Staff greeted each member and visitor enthusiastically telling them about the campaign, the Y was decorated in special theme colors and staff wore special color coordinated shirts. Each year the Annual Campaign raises contributions from trustees, staff, and donors in the community. The Y makes a special promise – that it is open and accessible to all regardless of race, religion, age, gender or financial circumstance. Y Cares Financial Assistance awards needs-based scholarships for campers, financial assistance to members, and subsidies to keep life-enriching and healthy living programs affordable for all.
