Members of the Summit Area YMCA Swim Team competed in the Union County Swim Championships for their respective high schools on Sunday, January 27. The swimmers came away with 4 county champions and 2 meet records.

Some meet highlights: William Benn (100 backstroke) and Kelly Carroll (200 IM) broke two meet records and the relay team of William Benn, Tim Kostolansky, Luca Guadagno and Kevin Fries broke the 400 freestyle relay record. Other highlights include: William Benn, 1^st in the 100 freestyle and 1^st in the 100 backstroke, double County Champ; Kelly Carroll, 1^st in 200 IM and 1^st in 500 freestyle, double County Champ; Tim Kostolansky, 1^st in 200 IM and County Champ, and 2^nd in 100 backstroke; Kevin Fries 1^st in 50 freestyle and County Champ, 3^rd in 100 freestyle; Luca Guadagno 2^nd in 200 IM and 5^th  in 100 butterfly; Tash Kewalramani 2^nd in 100 breaststroke; Lucia Donnelly 3^rd in 100 freestyle and 4^th in 100 backstroke; Zoe Pappas 3^rd in 50 freestyle and 5^th in 100 freestyle; Sara Misiukiewicz 4^th in 50 freestyle; Dan Stone 6^th in 200 freestyle; Alex Riba 6^th in 100 freestyle; Emily Vlass 6^th in 100 breaststroke.

The Summit Area YMCA is a youth swim team with year-round training opportunities. Daily training takes place in the Summit YMCA’s 6-lane 25-yard pool, complete with state-of-the-art Colorado Timing System. We participate as a team in YMCA dual meets and YMCA championships. In addition to YMCA swimming, we are also a registered USA Swimming organization. Our philosophy is a cooperative effort of swimmers, coaches, professional YMCA staff, and parents. Each play an important role in maintaining and improving our program, for the benefit of all involved. We pride ourselves in helping our athletes develop their talents as well as growing in values that can be utilized in all aspects of their lives--not just in the pool. Our low Coach-to-Swimmer ratio allows coaches to individualize training techniques to best suit each swimmer
